The Power of Ritual
Rituals are known as a prescribed order of performing a ceremony. An aid to change consciousness. We perform rituals everyday, sometimes without realizing. Do you have a skincare routine with more than 3 steps? That's ritual. Do you wake up every morning and make your bed before drinking your almond milk matcha latte and reading the news? That's ritual! Humans have been performing ritual ceremonies as long as they've existed on this planet. They connect us to our ancestors, to our communities and to our inner selves, and in that way, a ritual is also an act of magic, operating in sacred time and space.
Here are some tips you can use to incorporate ritual into your daily life...
- Set an intention. What is it that you want to accomplish? Are you looking to feel more grounded? Gain self-confidence? Take better care of yourself? Once you have an intention or goal for your ritual, it will be easier to figure out what steps to take to achieve it.
- Start small. You do not need to invoke the Goddess or call the corners every time you want to perform a ritual! (but if you really want to, by all means!) Hoping for healthier hair? Rub on some argan oil, light a candle and make a ritual out of brushing your hair, with a natural hair brush. Looking to get closer with your partner? Try making a ritual out of mealtime. Preparing your food together is a great way to connect and sharing that food sans screens is a great time to appreciate the labor of your love.
